## About Unnamed thermal spring

An unnamed thermal point in Yellowstone National Park, about thirteen miles out of West Yellowstone in Gallatin County. The water comes up scalding, well past anything a hand could tolerate. No name appears on file for it, only a position and a reading. It sits a short walk off South Rim Drive on National Park Service ground that is open to the public.

South Rim Drive is the closest road, and from there it is under half a mile on foot. High plateau country, close to eight thousand feet, where it averages around freezing across the year. Snow piles deep, more than eleven feet over a typical winter. Rain is moderate. Everything around the spring belongs to the National Park Service.

The record names the three winter months as the best time to come, which in a place buried this deep means confirming South Rim Drive is open before you set out. In summer it is the short walk and nothing more. Tower Fall Campground, roughly 13 miles away, is the nearest developed camping on file. Keep your distance from the water. At this temperature it burns skin on contact.
